How do we Replace Power Steering Pump?

You don’t need a mechanic in order to get things done. You can replace the power steering pump all by yourself without any problems. You can even do it right in your garage provided that you have the perfect tools, the proper gloves, and the new pump at hand.

• The first step is to remove the old pump from its place.
• Jack up the vehicle from the front and remove the parts that are mounted before the pump.
• You can then remove the pulley and you can now remove the old fluid using a drain container from the pump.
• After it is drained, remove the pump.
• Install the new pump by installing the hose back to its position and then place the pulley.
• With the use of your car’s manual, apply appropriate torque and replace the bolts.
• Install the new pump and connect the pulley.
• Check for leaks. If you found none, you can then tighten the lid.
• Start the engine. See if you can find some leakage everywhere, if none, you are successful.

These are the main things to do to maintain your power steering pump’s life. Following these steps will result to greater chances of keeping your pump alive for a long time.
